Baroque Music

I had a few thank you notes to write - so thought I would share one I made with you. I used STAMPS BAROQUE MOTIFS, AND VINTAGE VOGUE and the new MUSIC NOTES WHEEL. CARD STOCK: Marina Mist and White. CLASSIC INKS: Marina Mist, Black and (old) Going Gray. EMBELLISHMENTS: Pearls. PUNCHES: JEWELRY TAG MEDIUM, SCALLOP OVAL EXTRA-LARGE. BIG SHOT EMBOSSING FOLDERS: PERFECT POLKA DOTS.
DIRECTIONS: Cut the 8.5x11" Marina Mist c/s in half giving you two med. cards. Fold in half. Wheel the top using the Amazing new Music Notes wheel. You know I had to have that... with a music major heading to college! Cut white to 5 x 3 3/4" and "age the edges", run the scissors over the edges of the card stock till they are warn and torn in spots. I ripped off one corner. With the stamp set I rubbed the ink across the white card stock giving it more of an aged look. Sponged going gray ink around the outside edge of the white c/s. Stamped the design and tied on the ribbon. Glue white to front of marina mist card stock. Using an old stamp set with words that fit in the Jewelry tag, stamp the words first on scrap white card stock then punch out. Add holes and tied on to the knot of the ribbon. Punched out and emboss the scallop oval and glued behind ribbon knot. Add pearl to flower and dimensional to card front. Stamp envelope and waa-la! Beautiful Baroque Music Note card ready to mail.

Tart and Tangy Teacher

This adorable gift was given to my daughter's wonderful teachers at Discovery Christian Academy. They so deserved a special treat.Using TART AND TANGY STAMP SET. CARD STOCK: Real red, white and celery. DESIGNER SERIES PAPER: Certainly Celery discontinued, . The box is made using the BIG SHOT: Matchbook box  and tag die. EMBELLISHMENTS: Rhinestone brads. RIBBONS: discontinue real red organza ribbon and current white grosgrain ribbon. PUNCHES: 5 Petal, 1 3/4" scallop circle, 1 3/4" circle, and eyelet border. Other stuff: paper clips and clear overhead project sheet for box top.

TO MAKE THE PAPER CLIP TOPPER: Punch out 2 each scallops and "sandwich" the paper clip in the middle using dimensionals or large glue dots. Add more embellishment layers as you wish.

Hope you are inspired to make a few back to school teacher gifts too!

Jennifer Birt's Wedding & Grooms Cake

It is always a honor when asked to bake someones wedding cake, and double fun when asked to do the grooms cake too.

The top layers was all chocolate as well as the grooms cake. The center layer is white cake filled with strawberry filling - yummy. The bottom layer is 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 white cakes. I seldom know how it is all going to come together till I get to the wedding and finish set up. The flowers the bride choose for this cake was perfect and just set if off perfectly. I was as excited about the turn out as the family was.

The groom loves the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding cycles and 4 wheeling - so he got an outdoors cake with toy cycle! The trees are large pretzels, sugar cones and frosting! The "water" is piping gel colored blue.  The rocks are made out of gray and black tinted white chocolate fondant. The "dirt" is crushed graham crackers, coco puff cereal and a bit of brown sugar mixed.

The cake was set up in the house then carried out when it was time to cut, as it was such a hot day, we didn't want the cake melting!

Punched Posies Swap

I haven't signed up for a swap in 50 years...well maybe not that long! Its a first for a very long long time. Since this swap is with some of my wonderful Stampin Up customer friends, there was no rules! Just had to include an envelope. I used our 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 square envelops and cut 12x12 card stock to fit.

I stamped using the level 2 hostess set from the summer mini catalog Punched Posies. Stamped on white card stock using Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Perfect Plum Ink and punched the posies out using the scalloped punch. The background piece is the Big Shot clear square scalloped die in pretty in pink card stock. The envelope is stamped using the same color combo too.

The stems and leaves are in my fav certainly celery card stock. I had cut out the stems in a "curved" shape, just following the last cut line with scissors. Glue the pretty in pink sq on center front of card, glue on the stems. Ignore the little slot punch under the stems that was a never mind - don't need that hole now!

I punched out a 3/4" circle, fed the circle back in punch and punched out the leaf shape as shown. Pretty nifty huh! I added a little detail to the leaves shown in the next photo, using Stampin Up's totally awesome white gel pen.

I added some dazzeling diamonds glitter (hard to see on photo) to posies center, attached with a dimensional. Tied on a ribbon, attached with a glue dot.
Enjoy!

Homemade Buttons

Looks like a real button huh! Using the Stampin Up Big Shot Button Die (#113440) cut out 4 or 5 buttons. Glue the layers together, add the "tie" in the button holds if you wish. Spread a layer of Crystal Effects (#101055) over the button, working under and around the "tie". Let dry for 24 hours, or use a heat tool to dry. Be careful not to burn or bubble the crystal effects while heating. Attach to project using a glue dot or dimensional. Homemade Buttons! Make a bunch all at one time and have them ready in advance.
