Flowers Make Me Smile

I thought I would share one of my most favorite Art Journaling flowers to date. Ya never know when a better one may be created! I love flowers, all flowers, and I love stamping, drawing, coloring them even more. Flowers just make me smile! I drew the words first, then filled in with the flowers and leaves. I colored them using my Stampin Up Watercolor pencils, then blended them with a blender pen. I then used pan pastels for the background shadows. Black marker makes the words, dots, outlines and little details.
I hope you are inspired to create some really great flowers that will make you smile too. Please do not use this art work for any type of contests or publications. This is my original art and I am sharing it for inspiration use only. Thanks for not using what is not yours.

Arch Swap

I entered yet another swap for an Arch Card. The design was to be red, white and blue on a 4"x6" arch type of card. The card is to be any type of heavy board. After the year all who participated will add a few holds and make them into a book.  Here is my swap for July.
I so love this past paper from STampin Up. The flower was from some wired twine I picked up a few years back and finally dug it out to use. The rest of the goodies are from my stash of all stashes, and I so enjoy using some of them up and seeing them go to a fun project. Both sides of this arch card is decorated paper. So that when we put them together the "book pages" will be pretty on both sides.  Super fun huh?!
I hope this inspires you to dig out some of your stash and put them to fun use too.

Christmas in July

I entered a Random Act of Art Swap with my wonderful yahoo group. This months swap was tags. Well I don't know to many who couldn't use Christmas Tags, so that is what I chose to make. I had such fun with using up a bit of this and a bit of that for this swap. The tags are made from the left over cardboard from the bias tape that we used on the Haiti Dresses. What fun to reuse trash and make it into something so pretty. I used past Stampin Up Designer Series Papers, and tid bits of this and that to embellish. I so enjoyed this project.

Art Journaling Mini Book.

I have made some little Art Journaling Books. They are 6 1/2"x 8" in size, hand sewn five hole binding and made out of cold pressed heavy weight watercolor paper. There are four inside pages, and a front and back cover with four flip out pages. This one shown was one I had designed and used as a door prize drawing in my last Art Journal Class. The cost is $10 each, and $2.50 for USA shipping. If you are interested in one, please send me a message (see left side of blog to send).

Bathroom!

Well it all started with this. Oh my what a mess..... We are well into a bathroom, back porch, living room, and kitchen remodel! Oh my I never dreamed that a little leaky toilet would end up in turning the whole house upside-down.

I can share a few before and afters with you... however there is really nothing fully finished as of yet!

Here are the new knobs we picked out for the master bath. Pretty huh! The lighting was so different that it changed the cabinet color... really these are the same cabinets.

Now on to the living room (great room) .....

Looks like two different rooms, but this is really the living room, looking out to the back deck. The top door is just a regular 5" door. Nothing special, we never really used it, but to look out of the tiny windows in it. The living room has always been dark and yucky to me...

....but  as you see below we now have this amazing 10" telescoping door. Wow, the room is light and bright. The windows are amazing. I love love love it.

And you see it is not finished yet, we get to paint, trim, clean.... oh and looking out those windows you can see the mess that is going on, on the porch... and that green thing in the middle of the yard out there... yes it is a tub!

Stay tuned as there is much much more to come. Till then... this is our view of our bathroom!
Nothing! Just a big ol' dusty mess every where, and stuff stashed ever where, and the trips to Lowe's, Menard's, Home Depot are a mounting!

The building remodel, repair continues...... A New Roof

I know this isn't all that exciting for most.... but I had to show you our new pretty roof! Since when did roof get to be pretty? Ha! I am such a nerd sometimes.
So here is the before.... dirty, streaky, ugly, boring.
and the After...... pretty amazing! It kinda reminds me of a shake roof. I have always loved shake roofs, but they are not so good to use in Indiana due to our beautiful freezing white winters. This one has a life time warranty, yippee!
We had a new air conditioner/ heater put in to0. Yicks! I really didn't think you wanted to see pictures of that. But is sure works great, and the new thermostat can be set by my i pad. Oh boy now I am really living like the "in" crowd! heeheehee

Art Journaling: Support

My best friend since the 4th grade shaved her head for a dear friend who is struggling with breast cancer. I am so in ahh of her love and support that I had to put this moment in my journal. So here is my rendition of the picture she sent to me to tell me all about the experience. No wonder this amazing women is still my best friend after all these years! What a act of support! Love you Franny.

If you are struggling with breast cancer, may you know that the prayers I say are for you too. May you know the touch from our healing loving God and that others care too.
